Beyond Spheres Project News
＊昨年から活動を開始したBeyond Spheres Project は１０月ー１１月にWaterfall Arts, Belfast（メイン州）において栗田紘一郎展、写真ワークショップ（デジタル ミーツ クラシックーープラチナプリント）、ICP キュレーターとのギャラリートークを行いました。

＊今年はBennington 大学（バーモント州）から始まります。"Beyond Spheres-栗田紘一郎展" と関連イベントの案内です。古典写真技法（カロタイプ、アルブメンプリント、ソルトプリントなど）のワークショップとレ クチュアーをします。
＊５/２５−６/１６はFOTOSPHERE TOKYOと和田画廊（京橋）で同時開催展示です。イベント内容はまた追ってお知らせします。
Beyond Spheres - Meditations on Thoreau

Usdan Gallery at Bennington College
Bennington College is pleased to present the work of Japanese photographer, Koichiro Kurita. His work will be on view in the Usdan Gallery, located in the Visual Arts Building, from March 6 through April 2, 2012.
The Beyond Spheres project by Koichiro Kurita is inspired by the literature of Henry David Thoreau and attempts to visually explore Thoreau’s philosophy regarding the relationship between nature and humanity. Koichiro retraces the steps of Thoreau as he traveled throughout the landscapes of the Mid-Atlantic and New England region during the mid-19th century. Koichiro uses his 8x10 camera to make negatives on paper employing an early photographic process (Calotype /Talbotype) from this same time period invented by the British polymath, William Henry Fox Talbot. The resultant albumen prints allow us to reconnect to our world and find harmony and balance among all living things.
“The world of Nature embraces Atmosphere, Terrasphere, and Hydrosphere. Each surface and its borders connect in a subtle and mysterious way. These phenomena, including all things and all living things like us, exist in time both as independent and co-dependent entities. They all share borders with each other and with other spheres. To recognize all relationships, we understand that the connections are not in conflict but rather in a state of order and harmony.” Koichiro Kurita
Koichiro’s work has been exhibited internationally and collected by major museums including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Los Angels County Museum; the Princeton University Art Museum; Yale University Art Gallery; The Fogg Museum at Harvard University; George Eastman House; La Maison Europeenne de la Photographie, Paris; Bibliotheque Nationale de France, the Tokyo Fuji Art Museum; among others.

みなさん帰省されているのでしょうか、年末らしい寒さのなか東京はしんとしています。
この一年みなさまに支えていただき、本当にありがとうございました。
ここでは語り尽くせないほどのあたたかいお心遣いや励ましのおかげで、ワークショップなどもなんとか形になってきました。来年もまたいろいろとイベントなども考え中ですし、アートプロジェクトBeyond Spheresも大きく動く年だと思います。今からとても楽しみです！
